Infused Fountain Pen Ink - Color Magic Amplified

Using fountain pen ink in your spellwork is an easy way to bring the power of the color's energy into your spell. But did you know you can easily create an infused fountain pen ink to amplify specific aspects? Read on for some quick and easy tips!

But first, a bit about safety

Specifically, I'm taking about the safety of your fountain pen. The mechanisms inside a fountain pen are very delicate, and should only be used with unaltered ink. DO NOT use infused ink inside your fountain pen. Instead, use the infused ink with a small brush or a dip pen. A dip pen is a pen you dip directly into the bottle of ink, instead of drawing the ink up into the pen, as in a fountain pen.

What can I use in the ink?

Bottled fountain pen ink can be infused with a variety of components, including

  • stone/crystals - I recommend using stone/crystal chips for this. Be aware that whatever you put into the ink may end up becoming dyed by it.
  • botanicals - dried botanicals tend to work better, as they are less likely to cause mold, but fresh can be used as well.
  • moon energy - create an infused ink just as you create infused moon water, by placing the bottle out in the moonlight, and setting the intention that it be infused by the energy of that night's moon.

Let's make some!

To create your infused ink, you'll need

  • Fountain pen ink
  • a small separate bottle to decant some of the ink into
  • your infusion correspondence

Because, again, you cannot use this ink in a fountain pen once it has been infused, I recommend removing a small amount of ink from the bottle (say 5-10ml), and transferring it into a separate bottle for the infusion. This way you can use the same base ink for multiple infusions, and you can clearly label your bottle with the contents.

Ingredients Assembled!

For this example, I'm creating a confidence-boost ink. My ingredients/infusions are:

  • INK - I've selected a gorgeous orange ink from Anderillium Ink as my base.
  • GLASS BOTTLE - I'm using a bottle with a larger mouth opening so I can easily add all of my components.
  • CRYSTAL - I'm using Black Obsidian here, as both a protective element and a confidence/creativity booster. Find additional info on Black Obsidian in the Resources section here. I am unfortunately all out of chips, so I am using a small tumble here - another reason to select a bottle with a nice, wide opening!
  • BOTANICAL - Rosemary (dried) is my botanical infusion for this purpose.
  • ZODIACAL/PLANETARY ENERGY - To further boost the energy of this ink, I've infused it during the Capricorn Full Moon during the night of July 20th/early morning of July 21st. We'll talk lots more about working with these energies in future posts.

The infusion process is quite simple:

  1. Cleanse your new glass bottle using your favorite method (candle, incense, salt, whatever works for you).
  2. Bring your components together and prepare them by connecting to their energies and asking that they contribute to the intention you have for the ink.
  3. Put everyone in the bottle (remember, not too much of the ink!), and stir in a clockwise motion to bring all the energies together.
NOTE: It is up to you if you want to crush/etc your botanical. In this type of application, I don't, but if you feel that helps you activate them, go ahead! I do NOT recommend crushing stones or crystals.
  4. (OPTIONAL) If you have created a sigil or other written representation of your intention, consider adding it to the bottle, either by writing on the bottle directly or by tying a tag onto the bottle.
  5. Add your stopper and you are good to go! If you are infusing  your ink in moonlight, place your bottle outside in a safe place (or in a windowsill), and ask the moon to infuse your ink with her energy.

How do I use it?

Use it to write in your journal, draw, write spell papers - the sky's the limit! This is a quick and easy way to add an extra bit of magic to your every day.

If you've ever made an infused magical ink, or are inspired to now, please leave me a comment and let me know! Happy witching :)
